According to the national pharmacopoeia (2015 Edition), the medicinal part of tangerine is the immature or nearly mature dry outer peel of Citrus grandis' tomentosa 'or citrus grandis (L.) Osbeck, a Rutaceae plant.
Citrus reticulata Blanco is the dried outer peel of the Rutaceae plant orange and its cultivated varieties. Also known as Huazhou Juhong and Huazhou Xianju, it is a kind of fruit, belonging to the genus Citrus. It is a cultivated variety of pummelo, which belongs to the same tree as pummelo.
Tangerine is in a long strip or irregular flake shape, the edge is wrinkled and curled, and the thickness is about 0.2mm. The outer surface is yellowish brown or orange red, shiny, densely covered with punctate concave or convex oil spots, commonly known as "brown eyes". The inner surface is yellowish white, and there are also obvious oil spots, which are transparent to light. It is fragile. It is fragrant, slightly bitter and pungent.
It is better to have thin skin, large pieces, red color and oily skin.
